Comparative and superlative forms
The comparative (stopień wyższy) and superlative (stopień najwyższy) of one-syllable adjectives are generally made by adding –er and –est.
cheap-cheaper-(the) cheapest
young-younger-(the) youngest
small-smaller-(the) smallest
In the case of adjectives ending with a vowel (samogłoska) plus a consonant (spółgłoska) we double the consonant.
big-bigger-(the) biggest
hot-hotter-(the) hottest
slim-slimmer-(the) slimmest
In the case of adjectives ending with –e we add –r and –st.
nice-nicer-(the) nicest
large-larger-(the) largest
safe-safer-(the) safest
The comparative and superlative of two and three-syllable adjectives are generally formed by using more or most + adjective.

The comparative and superlative of two-syllable adjectives ending in –y are generally made by dropping the –y and adding –ier and –iest.
